Train For The Gold Tournament Information

Our main goal is to have fun, make new friends and build confidence! 

 It's more than just about winning medals.

 It is an essential element of martial arts training.  

Registration fees will be put back into our community. 

Donation will be made to our food bank. 

$ 30 per person 

$ 60 family rate (4 members)

$10 for the 6 and under beginner division

TRADTIONAL KATA

mandatory 2 katas per division

white and yellow belts may perform same kata twice

orange belts and up requires 2 different katas

For Individual Kata, the criteria to be considered are respectively:

 stances, techniques, transitional movements, timing and synchronisation, correct breathing, focus (KIME), strength, speed, balance

14 and over divisions if the wrong kata is performed that was declared a score of 0 will be given


KUMITE

POINT SYSTEM

Sandon (3 points) -Jodan kicks, leg sweeping the opponent to the mat, followed by scoring technique, combination hand techniques

Nihon (2 points)-Chudan kicks

Ippon (1 point)-Jodan or chudan tsuki, -Uchi

Attacks are limited to: -head, face, neck, abdomen, chest, side, back(no spine)

DOUBLE ELIMINATION

-Match will end after 2:00 minute running time or six point spread, whichever occurs first.

-In the event of a tie after regulation time, a sudden death match will declare the winner.

-Black belt match will end after three minute running time or eight point spread, whichever occurs first.

Light facial contact allowed in 14-15 year old age group and higher, disqualification in all groups under 14.

Excessive contact will result in disqualification after two warnings.

Disrespect will result in automatic disqualification.

MADATORY –mouth guard, WKF fist pads ( Red or Blue), chest pads,  

foot/shin pads 14 years and up, 

Helmets and groin protectors highly recommend.

TEAM KATA

TEAMS CONSISTING OF 3  MEMBERS

1 kata

Specific Kata must be performed as determined by the majority of the team's belt levels. --- All belt levels allowed.  

Weapon Teams welcome- 3 members per team

The criteria to be considered are respectively:

stances, techniques, transitional movements, timing and synchronisation, correct breathing, focus (KIME), strength, speed, balance

14 and over divisions if the wrong kata is performed that was declared a score of 0 will be given

WEAPONS

Traditional/Creative Weapon 

1 kata performance

Must present yourself

State NAME, DOJO, and ask for permission to begin 


THE SAME CRITERIA AS STATED IN TRADTIONAL KATA WILL BE JUDGING CRITERIA

if the weapon is dropped in under 14 divsion they may restarthe criteria to be considered are respectively:

stances, techniques, transitional movements, timing and synchronisation, correct breathing, focus (KIME), strength, speed, balance

6 and under beginners division

This category is for those karate-ka that do not have the experience yet in competition, they are new to the sport, they cannot perform a kata, but can demostrate karate skills. ( The judge will assist them

  ***student can only enter in this division     NO other catergories are allowed***

30 second maximum time limit

must bow and state their name out loud to start 

judges are looking for

loud Kias, balance, focus, and spirit

Pack a lunch.  

There will be a canteen available with items suchs as sport drinks, chips, bars, fresh fruit, coffee, juice, etc.  

There are a few options on Main st for lunch.
